Who we need:
Our University is actively seeking a Business Analyst. The Business Analyst provides a critical role in eliciting, analyzing, specifying, and validating the business needs of stakeholders in support of Information Technology Solutions (ITS) objectives and projects. Working within the ITS PMO, they will apply proven communication and problem-solving skills to help make good process and technology decisions. The Business analyst will also work with business stakeholders to develop user acceptance test case and partake in test execution.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in a variety of projects ranging from acquisition and deployment of new systems though to operational management and optimization, all with the goal of ensuring ITS meets the needs of the business.

What will you do:
- Partner and effectively communicate with business leaders and stakeholders in the determination and articulation of project requirements, scope, and vision.
- Work alongside project managers and other ITS staff in the delivery of assigned projects while adapting to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities.
- Conduct interviews to gather user requirements via workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, use cases, scenarios, and other methods.
- Develop acceptance test cases and perform data integrity testing and user acceptance testing.
- Translate stakeholder requirements into comprehensive user stories, process flows, functional and non-functional requirements.
- Ability to develop decision tables, use cases, process flows and maintain complete traceability from requirements to testing.
- Provide analysis and insight to better understand the impact, completeness, and priority of collected requirements.
- Have a process-oriented approach, able to assist business transformations though process mapping, analyzing, and optimizing.
- Assist project management with the preparation and presentation of project documentation, communications, and reporting.
- Lead and participate in project delivery in areas such as technology selection, project deployment, QA/testing, documentation as well as other assigned tasks.
- Able to translate conceptual user requirements into functional requirements in a clear manner that is comprehensible to technical and project team members.
- Provide input to the continuous improvement of the project delivery process by reviewing and analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of existing requirements-gathering processes and develop strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes.
What you bring:
The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic team member with a passion for “getting it right”. They will have a high level of drive and creativity to constantly improve their area of responsibility. Preferred qualifications and skills are:
- Post-secondary education in the field of computer science, information technology or business administration.
- 5+ years related work experience.
- Strong understanding of project and business analysis concepts and practices.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel and Visio.
- Experience in the education industry is preferred.
- CBAP certification preferred.
- Experience with automation test script development is an asset.
- Exceptional listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Strong process-oriented approach.
- Logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail.
- Highly self-motivated and directed, able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under time constraints.
- Strong customer service orientation.
