CAREER OPPORTUNITY: Buyer

Location: Mississauga, Ontario

Job Description

· Negotiate, Purchasing new products and checking the quality and customer popularity of those already in store;

· Negotiating terms of contracts with supplies including discounts and transportation arrangements;

· Monitoring and maintaining adequate stock levels

· Deliver against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure success based on service level and SKU Performance

· Monitor and take appropriate action on vendor performance with respect to order fill and on time delivery

· Identify and communicate opportunities with vendors, Category Management, Merchandising, Replenishment and Logistics on areas for improvement

Job Qualifications:

· An Undergraduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or a DEC

· 2-4 years of experience as a buyer in a related industry (relevant purchasing and marketing experience-preferably in a produce, food processing or distribution/logistics environment).

· Extensive knowledge of Excel (intermediate)

· Grocery buying experience (required)

· Able to effectively negotiate and influence business decisions and change.

· Have strong analytical, planning and execution skills

Education:

• Secondary School (preferred)

Experience:

• purchasing: 2 years (preferred)

• Negotiation: 2 years (preferred)
