Car House Operator
Summary of Position
Cadre’s Transit division offers our clients technical rail service solutions including commissioning and testing of new transit vehicles, warranty repairs, preventative maintenance, and inspection services. Our contractors work with the leading Ontario transit suppliers and agencies, ensuring their equipment is available to provide reliable on time service to their passengers in some of North America’s largest transit systems.
Reporting to the Director of Maintenance, the Car House Operator will be responsible for safely operating newly delivered Light Rail Vehicles on the recently constructed Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit system (https://www.metrolinx.com/en/greaterregion/projects/crosstown.aspx) to assist in the commissioning and testing of the transit line. Our Car House Operators will be required to follow all municipal traffic laws and Transport Canada regulations while operating the vehicles.
Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Light Rail Vehicles
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle
- Reports all accidents, incidents, or unusual occurrences to dispatch office immediately
- Work day, afternoon and night shifts
Requirements
- Possess a valid non-probationary Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License in good standing, DZ Licence would be a real asset
- Possess a Grade 12 secondary school diploma or its recognized equivalent
- Must attend and complete company training program for the operation of Light Rail Vehicles
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment, construction equipment, delivery vehicles, box trucks, dump trucks, garbage trucks, etc.
- Ability to read, understand and follow written rules and procedures
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug test
